Finally, a lit blog that makes sense (sort of).

Welcome to Two Squirrels, One Acorn– the literary project where sustained focus goes to die.

We are Finnotaur and Pippilotta, two fully-grown humans diagnosed with ADHD, and we’re locked in a room with the most notoriously difficult books ever written. Our mission? To read them. Our reality? We’re currently discussing the merits of artisanal paper clips while the book stares back, judging us.

You may have heard of Finnegans Wake. We have, too! And we’ve committed to reading every single, glorious, word-salad page. We’re also tackling other literary giants – the ones who assume you have all the time, attention, and PhD-level knowledge in the world. (One of us has a PhD – up to you to figure out which one).

What to Expect:

The Actual Stream of Consciousness: We started discussing James Joyce’s use of neologisms, and somehow ended up arguing about which Pokemon would survive the events of Ulysses. It happens…

The Deep Dives (That Turn Into Puddles): We’ll zero in on a footnote, research it for three hours, and then realize we’ve forgotten what chapter we were in. Go to make a sandwich. Forget about the book for a day, a week, a year. There are other books. Expect groundbreaking, albeit wildly tangential, commentary.

Book Reports That Are 90% Distraction: We provide color-coded charts, diagrams, and panicked voice memos explaining why a character’s shoe reminds us of a forgotten $10 bill in a winter coat that we saw last week.

The Unfiltered Review: We’re here to remind you that sometimes, a classic book is just a confusing mess. And sometimes you just need a break to go organize your spice rack or figure out how to make croissants from scratch…or go outside to collect rocks and crystals to put on your piano – wait now we want to practice the piano….be right back.
